"Efficiency and excellence"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Clinical haematology

(as the patient),

Had my bone marrow aspiration by clinical nurse specialist Jane. She put me at ease, explained the procedure well and made what was a frightening experience as comfortable as it could be. She has an exceptional manner and Lanarkshire is enriched by her expertise.

My return visit was today. Was taken on time, consultant Dr Laird was excellent. Explained all points clearly, had repeat X-rays done immediately and future appointments explained.

Was emotional after visit and staff noticed this and offered me a room to compose myself before walking through the waiting area.

Can't emphasise enough the efficiency and excellence of care from junior to very senior members of staff.

If I need to have future treatment/ follow up in WGH I will be confident that all my needs will be met.

Dear Joyce

Many thanks for taking the time to let us know about your recent visits at Wishaw General where you had some investigations carried and follow up outpatient appointments/consultation. This must have been a very worrying time for you so we really value your feedback.

A bone marrow aspiration (BM) is not a pleasant investigation to have done but I am delighted to hear that Jane our clinical nurse specialist/BM expert put you at ease to have the procedure carried out.

I'm also pleased to hear that on your return visit you thought the service was efficient and excellent from Dr Laird and every member of the team.

I will ensure that the team are aware of your feedback and thank you again for your personal time to let us know about your visits.

Many thanks and warmest regards

Margaret

Hello Margaret,

When I posted my story I should have included nursing assistant Lisa who held my hand during the bone marrow aspiration. She chatted away to me, calmed me and really helped me through the procedure. Hope her hand has recovered
