"I cut me noddle"

I have a weak leg, the result of polio when I was fourteen, seventy years ago. It does have a tendency to buckle on odd occasions causing a fall and this is what happened yesterday evening (31st October). Going on to the balcony to get the washing in I fell and my head hit the balcony rails. Me noddle is of the finest English Oak but the rails are of metal and they won. The result, quite a cut that leaked blood.

I dialled 999 at 7pm and the ambulance came with two marvellous paramedics, who made sure that I was able to walk to the ambulance for the trip to A&E. Had an interesting chat during the journey. A&E Assessment looked after me well with one nurse wondering if my Christian name, Kenneth, had Scottish origins?.Having been a Kingston resident all of my days I had to deny such a connection.

The nurses who looked after me, the Xray section and the Junior Doctor who took me through a very thorough examination, were marvellous in their care and attention. Bless the Junior Doctor, although of a different nationality, they even managed to catch up with some of my jokes. They told me their names and I was Kenneth - much nicer than the old, formal, Mr. Bloggs.

They glued the cut together and then insisted on arranging transport home - I arrived at 1am! Four hours of care that no one could quibble at - especially not me!

Please, please!! pass on this appreciation for each one needs to be recognised for the way they looked after me! I feel sure that there are those who, without thinking, fail to do the same thing.
