"Smokers at the entrance"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

My wife recently gave birth to my son at this hospital. As soon as we walk outside we were greeted by a screen of dirty smoke and a horde or zombie-like folk puffing on their fags.

So congratulations Pinderfields, the first breath of fresh air that my son took was full of carcinogenic smoke!

I see there are plenty of signs however this appears to have had absolutely no impact.

Get someone from security / reception moving them on and start giving repeat offenders on the spot fines. This is outrageous.

We acknowledge that this is an isue, as indeed it is in many hospitals. We have installed a smoking shelter away from the entrance area and security staff do ask smokers to use it. We have no legal right to move people, however, as the current legislation bans smoking only in enclosed spaces.
