"Prompt and helpful action"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / NHS 111

(as the patient),

Over 2-3 days a small swelling around temple spread to my ear, which became red and very swollen, but not painful.

I checked with a local Sainsbury supermarket Pharmacist (it was Sunday morning) and she suggested calling 111 and seek medical advice, probably a duty Doctor.

I did this, called 111 (SWAS) and with in 20 minutes had a call from a duty Doctor, prescribing antibiotics, which I collected from the same supermarket.

I would like to thank the service for such prompt and helpful action, which undoubtedly saved a trip to A&E, and would be a far more expensive use of resources.

Hi Guzzler

Thank you for taking the time to give our 111 service feedback. I hope you're feeling better now.

It is always so very rewarding to hear stories of our staff delivering excellent care to patients when they need it most.

We would be very happy to share your comments with the 111 staff involved in organising your prescription. However, in order to do this we need a little more specific information. If you would like us to do this, may I ask you to contact our Patient Engagement team on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 453831 and a member of the team will help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your story.

Sara
