About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

My husband was sent to hospital with stomach pains. It was firstly diagnosed as constipation.

However it soon became apparent that he was becoming seriously ill and his heart stopped.

He was resuscitated by highly skill medical staff and rushed to have a mri scan. He again took a turn for the worse and was rushed to surgery with a ruptured AAA.

His heart stopped again and did not have a heart beat for 30 minutes . After surgery he was taken to department of critical care.

His prognosis was poor but the staff fought hard to keep him alive.

After being in a coma for 20 days it was a relief when he started to make a recovery.

The dedication of the staff was the key to this recovery, they never gave up . We as a family will never be able forget the dedication., the honesty and support of that very special team. The surgeon who carried out this very difficult and dangerous operation, their great skill and that of their team enabled us to continue as a happy complete family. Every day we thank god for this person without them the outcome could have been so different.

They are skilled, compassionate and showed how much they cared. There is not a day goes past when I don't give thanks that they were available that night. I would like this opportunity to thank the assessment unit for their quick actions during the initial resuscitation.

Also the Sister and their team on S11.
