"New 999 strategy"

About: Leicester General Hospital

My wife has received the most abysmal treatment ever and it's a good job she's safely back home with her family. Not only did she wait 9 hours in theatre recovery before being taken to a ward, she then had to wait 9 hours to see a doctor who could review her pain. Not forgetting the drug confusion!! Which rendered her unconscious for 2 hours (even though they forgot to call me as her next of kin). I have never witnessed my wife so distressed and it was only when I collected her today (after you guessed it -a nine hour wait) that we discovered what had actually happened the day before. Can you imagine how it felt not knowing anything! Come on NHS Leicester, you need to start communicating unless nine hours is going to become a government standard.

Dear Reviewer,

We are very sorry to hear about your wife’s recent experience at Leicester General Hospital and that it was not up to the same standard that she has previously received. We would like to investigate her case further so please could you send her details (name, address, date of birth and hospital number) to clair.riddell@uhl-tr.nhs.uk.

Kind regards,

Clair Riddell,

Matron,

Leicester’s Hospitals
