"Phlebotomy clinic finishing early"

About: Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I'm concerned that the phlebotomy clinic at Townsend Lane has been finishing early- it was packed up and gone by 12. 15pm today and started packing up at 11. 30am earlier in the week, when they are advertised as being on until 12. 30pm. This means that patients who have made a journey to get their blood taken are not being seen.

Dear Friendlyface,

Many thanks for sharing your feedback. I have asked colleagues in the Phlebotemy Team to investigate and will get back to you soon with their reply.

Thank you for your patience, I have spoken to the team leader who apologises for the inconvenience that you faced. She assumes that you visited the service on Friday morning as the service was very busy on that day.

The phlebotomist on duty did call and request an extra member of staff to help out but despite two members of staff being on duty they had to stop giving out tickets at 12 o'clock as they have to vacate the room to allow others services to use it and they have home visits to make from 12.30 onwards.

Our Phlebotomy leaflets do suggest that patients arrive at least 30minutes before the end of clinic to ensure that they are seen but perhaps the timings advertised are misleading so we will look into that.

Here is the current information to the clinics that we run in Liverpool and Sefton http://www.liverpoolcommunityhealth.nhs.uk/health-services/blood-testing-services/blood-sampling.htm

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention,
