i recently attended the Opthalmic clinic on alternate Monday afternoons. On the first occasion the notes were not in situ until after the clinic was due to start. The consultant was quite abrasive and unsympathetic and actually quite dismissive. I had to make a return appointment which i duly attended for. On this occasion there were no nurses available which resulted in patients needing scans being made to wait until someone from another department could fit in the time to see to them. The assistant that sees you before you see the consultant, was discussing patients in full ear shot of paitents before seeing them themselves, almost as if they needed to be told what there was to ask and then write down. In my own case, they clearly did not write down what they were told. On seeing the consultant, the attitude was aggresive, bullying and patronising. In fact i dont actually know why i was seeing them anyway, as from a letter that has been sent to my gp the diagnosis that was supposed to be looked into is not what i was at the hospital for. Such a shame that the care throughout the hospital is not consistent, and that depending on what day your clinic is and the amount of staff of duty depends on how you are treated. Seems like its always the patients that cop the fault for things, despite the fact that without patients there would be no need of any of the doctors or consultants.
