What I liked

I want to convey my wholehearted thanks for what proved to be an amazing experience. This has proved that the new modern NHS is not just alive and kicking, but positively screaming and leading the way in traditional and innovative healthcare.

I was on ward 15 for 10 days or so, and have been so impressed and thankful for the attention and treatment I receive.

The consultant on ECU was brilliant, concise, reassuring and professional, as were most of the staff. On ward 15 I was just in awe of the expertise, professionlism and compassion of all who were involved in my care. As for my consultant, words cannot convey what she did for me - we need more like her.

The nursing staff were all just great - words actually fail me - but the mix of modern and traditional nursing ie holistic, compassion, empathetic, funny, provided a great backdrop to a really good atmosphere, which considering the group of patients I was with who had significant health problems, was no mean feat.

Alongside this, I found the cleaners, workmen etc on the ward, respectful, friendly and human. I have nothing but praise for x-ray, ultrasound and the porters who took me there.

I realise I have gone on a bit, but I was in this hospital 3-4 years ago and had a poor experience. The hospital has leapt forward and is a credit to North Tyneside and indeed the NHS.

The food was excellent - and my fellow patients agreed - we all looked forward to every meal.

I was an employee of the NHS for 31 years. I am proud to live in North Tyneside and have this Trust and hospital to look after my healthcare needs.

We have tried to make some major improvements to patient care, so it is reassuring to hear that you have noticed some significant differences since the last time you were a patient.
