"Waiting times in ENT"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital

(as a relative),

We arrived for the appointment at 2. 40. My Daughter in Law had an appointment at 2. 55. She got out of the car while I tried to park. This took 40 minutes with 2 children aged 4 and 6 months to eventually park the car. The baby was crying and my daughter in law had to tell the receptionist that she was going to fetch the baby and would be back. When we arrived back in the department we had to wait until 5 o'clock before she was called into the corridor outside the offices. Eventually she was seen and we left the hospital at 5. 30. This is totally unacceptable.

surely when an appointment is booked, then ever effort should be made to keep to the time. I am well aware that some times appointments over run but to be so far behind is wrong. Doctors should be taught time management and appointments kept within the time constraint.

Also, knowing we had 2 young children with us, because my daughter in law is breast feeding we had to take the baby with us. No one thought to tell us we could use the restaurant and with appointments running so late, a water cooler would have helped make patients more comfortable. It is no wonder that the health service is in such a mess.

I hope someone reads and inwardly digests these comments and waiting time in clinics sorted so that patients are seen within half an hour if less. 2 and a half hour wait is unacceptable.

Parking is another matter totally and maybe the car parking staff should be on duty all day and not just a short time.
