"Unprofessional Staff on Brodie Ward"

About: Royal Cornhill Hospital

(as the patient),

I have also witnessed the nurse who sits on her phone and rocks on chairs! Rude and unprofessional! However other staff turn a blind eye! She rules the roost! She is very intimidating. Not what you want when you feel like ending your life and the person supposed to be making sure your safe is reading her Facebook page!

Staff nurse was good.

Dear patient

We are sorry that you found a member of our staff to be rude and unprofessional. We have a policy for close observations which all staff should adhere to. I would certainly not expect a member of staff carrying out this responsibility to be using her phone. I will pass on your comments to the management team and ask them to respond.

It is kind of you to mention the staff nurse.

The Nurse Manager has provided the reponse below:

I am concerned to hear that you found the behaviour of one of the nurses on Brodie Ward to be unprofessional and intimidating. This is clearly not an acceptable situation so I have passed the information you posted on to the Senior Charge Nurse in Brodie Ward. I can assure you that we will investigate your complaint fully and would welcome any additional information you were able to provide us with. Please feel free to contact Eva Fraser, Senior Charge Nurse on 01224 557902, or alternatively, you may wish to use the NHS Grampian complaints system.

Although you identify that the behaviour of one of the nurses was unacceptable I am pleased to hear that you had a positive perception of one of the staff nurses on Brodie Ward.

We welcome all types feedback from people who uses our services as we strive to improve the experiences of patients who spend time in our wards. Accordingly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to pass your comments to us.
