"I like being able to meet other people"

I’ve been coming to the day centre 2 days a week for the past 2 years. It takes me out the house – I’ve got nobody at home. I’ve got lots of friends but they all live far away. I’m able to meet other people at the centre.

I’d be happy just sitting and chatting with a cup of tea but I do join in with the games, I like the word wheel, sometimes it can take a while to find the 9 letter word.

You have to show you are friendly, you can’t just sit back. It’s important to chat to folk and draw them out.

I enjoy going for a run in the bus as I don’t get out normally. We’re going on an outing to Gemmel’s garden centre soon, hopefully we’ll have our lunch out.

I don’t like the meals. I eat the food but it’s really not appealing. I understand they are catering for lots of different people, there’s no point in complaining, it fills a hole.
