"Newly pregnant, be prepared to wait!"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

When we found out we were having another child, there was only one hospital we would return to, Royal Bolton when we found out we were pregnant with our first child they were great all the way through, very efficient, friendly and did what they said they would.

How wrong was I, after returning this time, they advised that they now do the booking in and scans on 2 separate occasions, not great for those that work but if it's quicker, I'll take that.

Our first appointment to check in.....2 hours, 3/4 of that sat in the waiting room!

Second Appointment for scan and see midwife.....3 hours, 2/3 of that sat in waiting room!

That's 5 hours all in all, most of which sat in the dull, dreary and very dated waiting room.

with our first child just over 18 months ago we were there 2, waiting around 45 mins.

Looks like the new efficient processes are new inefficient processes.

If you have children don't take them, they'll be bored out of there minds with no facilities for them, not great for families and single parents that don't have family around them.

The staff however are great, can't fault there attitude and professionalism.

I am very sorry that you had to wait so long to be seen. Whilst our standard letter advises that your visit may take up to two hours to complete, your waiting time does seem to have been excessive.

We always attempt to see women as timely as possible but occasionally emergencies may arise which results in delays.

The waiting area and clinic are being refurbished next year and will include a coffee shop and retail outlet and I would be very happy to meet with you to discuss your suggestions for improving the area.

We are currently looking into how our appointments are managed and I will certainly bring your comments to the discussions.

If you would like to contact me to discuss this further and allow me to investigate the reasons for your delay please telephone me on 01204 390574."

Midwife Manager, Antenatal Clinic.
