I am seriously concerned about the response of 999.
Last evening my wife injured her head which resulted in a lot of blood and pain.
I had difficulty coping and was concerned in case I made matters worse.
My wife is 85 years old and in reasonably good health.
I rang 999 and spoke to a very pleasant person who asked a myriad of questions, obviously from a check list.
I requested a paramedic to help and decide the best action.
I was told to go to QA (a daunting journey) but pointed out I am 85 and somewhat disabled and thought a paramedic would be more suitable.
I asked if Gosport Minor Injuries was open and was told no, go to QA (a daunting journey) but pointed out I am also 85 and somewhat disabled.
I am concerned that the time spent on the check list – 9 minutes 45 seconds – could have had a more detrimental outcome in a more serious case.
After an uncomfortable night we have managed to clean the wound which is more of a hole than a split and pain killers are effective.
"Please tell 999 your minor injuries hours"
