I gave birth in Penrice and had to go to Treliske for stitches, I had to wait 8 hours to go into to theatre in which time I was well looked after. However, throughout the night the staff did not response well to my call button - I had to wait over an hour to have my baby passed to me when crying for a feed (I couldn't move from waist down).
However, after the procedure I was transferred to the ward. There were never any staff around, I wasn't given anything to eat or drink for hours and became dehydrated. Again my baby would cry for food and no one would help me nurse him and when I used the call button to ask for help the staff member was very patronising and acted as if I was a huge burdon and left as soon as they could. I soon asked if someone could call my husband to come and get me but after asking was told I would need to pay for the call, I had no mobile with me and no money as all my stuff was left at Penrice in the rush. When my husband did arrive I asked when I could be discharged, again the staff were very rude and left me feeling embarassed and upset. I didn't feel comfortable being at Treliske at all and hopefully will not have to return again.
"Rude, disrespectful, Patronising"
