"4 Days on CCU after Elective Procedure"

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital

Review of two halves, after an elective procedure in KGV building I spent 4 days in their CCU, amazing, Caring helpful and very compassionate staff (Nurses, Doctors and Support Staff) who worked well in together in clean modern conditions to provide the best possible care, it's never fun to be in hospital but if you have to be admitted its well worth considering, it certainly gets my vote.

However

Part 2 After 4 days and just prior to my discharge I was transferred to the QE2 Building (W.G.Grace Ward) after traversing what seemed like the Tunnels to hell to get there (such heat even at midnight) and not the most hygienic of journeys, and the lifts! well you get to the wards and for a while you can not believe you are in the same hospital, it's such a shame as staff who are kind and caring are having to work in these very different, very dismal, old and archaic conditions, the sooner this part of the hospital is knocked down and rebuilt the better.

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad to hear your satisfaction with your procedure and praise for our staff.

The QEII building is now the oldest part of our hospital in which we provide inpatient care but whilst it is old we are still able to provide a high standard of patient care within its confines.

Later this year the remaining wards in the QEII building will be transferring to a brand new facility within our main hospital building. All our inpatient areas are cleaned several times a day and we undertake regular inspection and audit to ensure that this is carried out to standard and that the risks of infection are minimised.

If you would like to discuss your concerns then please do contact the Governance Team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital on telephone 0203 765 8868 who will be happy to help.

Best wishes

Barts Health NHS Trust
