"Excellent care"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

I was on Sonning ward for a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction due to having a breast cancer recurrence. I was looked after so well for the 6 days I was there.

Everyone from my absolutely amazingly talented surgeon (well surgeons as I had two, one for each side!),senior nurses, staff nurses and health care assistants were amazing.

The staff on the ward work such long days but were happy and caring all through their shift. When there was a change of nurse, they came into the bay to introduce themselves which was nice.

I was involved in every aspect of my treatment both in discussing surgery options with my surgeon in clinic and on the ward.

I am so grateful to everyone involved in my care. I now move on to my next stage of treatment with the oncology team.
