"Exceptional care of my mother"

About: Yeovil District Hospital

I would like to thank ACCU and Ward 8B for the exceptional care of my mother, after she was admitted with a massive stroke.

Three particular thorough, kind, caring and lovely nurses looked after my mum that night (30th Sept).

They looked after my father and myself too, as we stayed overnight due to the poor prognosis of my mother.

The doctor was also very kind and explained everything to us and warned us what to expect.

The day staff explained everything they were doing and were so friendly and kind.

Ward 8b cared for my mother once she became palliative.

All the nurses, hcsw and doctors were so kind, caring and supportive towards us all.

They spoke to my mother and told her what they were doing, even though she was unconscious.

The domestics were very friendly and helpful too.

The palliative nurses were excellent and regularly popped up to check on us, aswell as my mother.

The night staff really looked after my dad, ensuring he was comfortable when he stayed overnight.

Finally, the lovely, lovely consultant.

Everyday they came in to check on my mothers pain control, also talking to her and stroking her head, if she showed pain.

They always asked after my dad (as my sister and I were there in the day, dad stayed overnight) and checked we were ok too.

They were kind, compassionate and very friendly.

They cheered us up with their good humour and i will never forget him or the staff of ACCU and Ward 8b.
