"Great Care at southmead for maternity services"

About: Southmead Hospital

I visited Sputhmead hospital Maternity in September and cannot give enough praise to the people who work here.

I was in hospital a while due to induction and although my birth did not go quite as planned everyone involved made me feel at ease about my emergency section and were completely amazing.

At all times I felt that i was in very safe hands with everyone in the delivery suite and in theatre and would not hesitate using again.

Only negative I can say is there was a wait to get to the delivery suite as it was full which meant I was in a fair bit of pain until that point, however the staff worked hard to get me there as soon as possible.

The aftercare was great in recovery and the midwives also on Percy Phillips ward were great in helping learn the ropes with my little girl and being on hand for medications and advice.

Response from Southmead Hospital

Dear Anonymous – Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your views of the maternity services at Southmead hospital. I was pleased to learn that you felt well supported by the staff at this exciting but understandably anxious time. I also regret that due to the ever increasing demands on maternity services across the country there are occasions when the service pressures mean the delivery suite is not always available to all at the optimum time. I hope that your are now enjoying this special time with your little girl.

Kind regards – Steve Sykes
