"last night in A&E with our 4 year old"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

our little boy had a nasty lump underneath a very large scab on his head ( we didn't realise this until the scab lifted!) after being told a number of times by different GPs at our family surgery that the scab would come off by its self and it would heal by itself ( but it didn't and it wasn't healing)I decided that I wasn't happy with the answer and took him to A&E ( thankfully!) They gave me answers and resolutions and although my poor little boy was in pain there was light at the end of the tunnel! The nurses we saw made us both feel comfortable and spoke to our little lad the whole time reassuring him, we were then put in a side room and had more nurses keep checking on him and making sure he wasn't in pain, they brought him in toys and books to make sure he was comfortable! All the staff helped make a scary situation for a little boy more peaceful! Thank you very much ....

Thank you for your feedback regarding our emergency department. I am always pleased to read heartfelt comments, like yours, on the care and treatment patients have received whether they are young or old. I have shared your kind words with the team who I am sure will be delighted and greatly encouraged by them.
