"I feel in control of my own life"

About: Six Degrees IAPT

(as the patient),

I was referred for mindfulness through my counsellor after experiencing stress related initially to health problems and then to work related stress as I didn't have some of the support I should have received at work.

Mindfulness has enabled me to cope with negative thoughts around my work situation and as I had decided my job was too stressful and I needed to move away from this, the mindfulness course gave me confidence to believe in myself. During the course I actually changed jobs and went through a minor operation in day surgery.. Without this course I would have felt anxious and worried about these situations and don’t feel I would have coped.

The meditation and learning how to be kind to myself and take time to appreciate things around me have made me feel more in control of my life. At the beginning of the course I wasn't sure what to expect, but now feel it is amazing how my thoughts towards everyday events have changed and I am practically back in control of my like.

The facilitators were brilliant and listened patiently. Without this course I feel I would have gotten worse.
