"A&E Sunday morning"

About: Colchester General Hospital

My partner brought me in to A&E early Sunday morning as I was in acute abdominal pain. Our wait was relatively short, some 40 minutes, I was the triaged by a very kind and sympathetic nurse who got me in for treatment quickly.

I was attended to by an agency nurse. I have to say they were extremely detailed, conscientious and considerate of my condition.

Despite them being new to the hospital and an agency nurse, they were a credit to the hospital and the department.

Considering the pressures both the NHS and the staff are under, I cannot fault the service and attention I received.

We only really hear the negatives about the NHS, but I cannot praise the staff enough and this nurse in particular. Please pass on my thanks for the prompt attention and treatment to all those involved so they know they are appreciated.

Many thanks for your comments and taking the time to submit them. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers.

I would like to send your comments to the staff concerned, could you email me, copying and pasting your comments into the email please, so we can pass on your good wishes?

We have a quarterly At Our Best Awards scheme which recognises staff achievements and thanks them for what they do. It has a team category, an individual and a volunteer category. You could enter the team/the person you were kind enough to write in about, by clicking here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/At_Our_Best_Awards

Many thanks
