"Terrible communication"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

Staff stressed and unable to communicate with each other, staff complaining to each other about other staff when we asked a question or where we needed to go etc. 3 hours to get CT scan reasults back! We were in there for 7 hours we were told when we got there they would get us on a drip they inserted the drip needle but we never actually got the drip attached! We were told pain relief would be 5 mins still never got any! We were also told to urinate in a cardboard bottle as they were Going to test the urine this was still left in the sink when we left! I could go on and on! Care,staff and hospital absolutely shocking

I am sorry that it appears it has taken a few days to respond to you, there appears to be some notification issues with NHS Choices and we are liaising with them regarding this. I have responded as soon as I was aware.

Your comments make for uncomfortable reading and is not the experience we would want any of our patients or visitors to have. Communication both with patients and between our staff is such an important part of care so I’m very sorry to hear that this was poor.

You refer to ‘we’ so it’s not clear whether you were a patient yourself or accompanying someone who was. We really want to hear the details so that we can investigate further so would very much appreciate you getting in touch.
