"A Compliment for Wishaw General Hospital"

About: Wishaw General Hospital / Emergency department

(as the patient),

I had the misfortune to need hospital care and attention in September due to a kidney problem. I was given a note from my doctor to take to accident and emergency.

Unfortunately I had rather a long wait of four and a half hours which was very uncomfortable as I was in a lot of pain. When I was admitted to the Emergency Care Ward, however, I was given the very best of care and attention from nurses Gemma and Allan. They gave me pain relief which allowed me to sleep.

The following day, I was transferred to Ward 6 (Women's Medical). The care and attention continued in this ward also and I can't thank everyone enough. I feel our hospitals get such bad press and not enough people speak up to compliment all the hard work being done by our conscientious doctors and nursing staff.

Well done and thanks again for your care and attention.

Dear Colliedog

Sorry to hear about your kidney problem and the pain you suffered I hope you are feeling better.

I am pleased to hear that Gemma and Allan took good care of you and provided you with pain relief to help you sleep but I am sorry you had to wait so long to get your treatment. Unfortunately activity in accident and emergency can be unpredictable but we are working with the team to try and reduce waits in the department.

Thank you for your lovely comments about ward 6 they will be delighted to hear you appreciated their care and attention please be assured I will pass on your comments to them. I am grateful to you for taking the time to post your compliments for the staff it is good for staff to get some good press.

Best Wishes
