"visit to a&e"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

I wish there was a button for no stars. On Friday evening l visited finchley walk in centre with an eye problem. They could not deal with it and suggested I go to the royal free or moorfields eye hospital. However I could not be referred to the royal free because the computer system was down. My wife and l chose moorfields. What a mistake to make. The a&e was absolutely packed. We were told that the waiting time was 4 hours. It actually was 91/2 hours. There was only one doctor on duty.

Bearing in mind that moorfields has around 80 consultants plus registrars and junior doctors it seems to me incredible that only one doctor was available for about 80 patients. I feel ashamed and disgusted that I have paid into this system for all my working life. It is absolutely disgraceful and should be closed immediately for ripping off the taxpayer for so long or it needs one he'll of a wake up call. It's time doctor's realised where their pay their pay checks come from and started to put the hours In whether they like it or not after all they only do a job like the rest of us

I am sorry to hear you had such a long wait when visiting our Accident and Emergency department and it was particularly busy on the evening you were seen.

I have forwarded your comments to the A&E team and obviously we would like to address your concerns in more detail. If you would like us to do so, please contact our patient advice and liaison service (PALS) via pals@moorfields.nhs.uk. They will be able to look into the circumstances that led to the delay.
