"Switchboard"

About: Croydon University Hospital

I have had a couple occasions to need to ring the Hospital,

When I eventually got through the person answering did not even announce the Hospital name just hello.

Not even 'can I help you?'

On both occasions as soon as the operator had given my the correct numbers they hung up on me. Didn't ask if I wished to be put through!

Does not give a good first or last impression of the Hospital!

Dear Anonymous

I am sorry that you have experienced difficulties contacting the hospital. We have recently encountered technical problems with our telephone system, which is due to be replaced and updated soon. However, our operators should provide a prompt and courteous service to all callers and I apologise that this did not happen when you called. I have spoken to the manager of our switchboard and asked that the standard of service is re-emphasised to all staff.

Kind regards

Graham Richardson Deputy Manager, PALS and Complaints
