"All hospitals should have nurses in this role"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

Living 100 miles away from Stoke Mandeville hospital, I was allowed to visit in the mornings of a weekend. The Learning Disability nurses are superb: they have kept an eye on him for me and texted me. If I had any real concerns, they dealt with it.

All hospitals should have nurses in this role. As my brother is blind and has no language to speak of, he was missing out on basic things like drinks. The LD nurses would monitor that.

Thank you for taking the time to compliment the Learning Disability nurses at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

I am really pleased to learn that you have received continuous communication from the Learning Disability nurses in relation to the care given to your brother. This must be so reassuring for you, given the challenges your brother has to face and particularly as you live such a long distance away from Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

I will endeavour to pass on your lovely words to the Learning Disability nurses, who I am sure will be encouraged by this recognition of the compassionate care they provide.
