"Dementia friendly care"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a relative),

My dad was brought into A&E yesterday following a blocked catheter. He was very agitated and confused but treated with such dignity and respect by the HCA Julie and the Nurse (Daryl) who could not have been kinder or done more to help. At all times they showed respect and compassion towards my dad (and were really helpful to me and my sister too)

I wanted to publicly acknowledge them and say thanks

Many thanks for your feedback and I am delighted to hear of the dignity and respect that your dad received, as well as the support to you and your sister. We are doing a lot of work in the trust to train our staff in the care of patients with dementia and how to support carers who do such a difficult job. So it is great to hear that it is working in practice.

I will pass on your message and thanks to Julie and Daryl.

Many thanks for taking the time to send this feedback, it means a lot to the staff.

Matthew
