"Excellent care"

About: East Anglia

(as the patient),

I phoned my GP practice first thing in the morning as I woke up with extremely severe headache, short of breath and chest tightness. Kind receptionist booked me in to see a GP at Drayton surgery. Currently as I was going through severe after affects from the bacterial meningitis which I suffered from in April, I put down current symptoms were due to previous meningitis.

But, after various examinations, I. e, ECG, Blood pressure, temperature, saturation, pulse, urine dip etc, my GP (Dr. A. S) became concerned about my symptoms. While everything was going on, and between waiting for each test I could not bear the headache. I only wanted to put a Ice cold towel on my burning forehead to stop irritation.

My forehead and eyes were like in a fire and chest felt tight when I breath.

The GP was very kind and professional. I could not asked a better GP than her. She reassured me saying she would like to get me checked at the hospital for my safety. She explained in very kind and professional manner that all the tests they done were satisfactory. And she booked an ambulance to take me to the medical assessment unit at the NNUH as she did not want me to drive there in case my symptoms get worse on the way.

Shortly after extremely kind lady (I am sorry that I can't remember her name or the profession at time to time I loose my memory since the meningitis) handed me an envelope with my medical history and a letter from the GP and said the ambulance is on its way.

A few minutes later an ambulance crew arrived and they took me to the ambulance and before they left, they asked me what happend and checked my blood pressure etc and given initial treatment for heart attack.

I am extremely gratful and thank you for GP who looked after me and the practice nurse who involved in my tests ( I am sorry I cannot remember her name either).

The GPs and practice nurses are in surgery like Drayton in Norwich should be recognised and awarded with highest complimentary.
