"I was admitted to BAGH Midwife ..."

About: Bishop Auckland Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted to BAGH Midwife Led Unit when starting in labour, the midwife on duty soon recognised something wasnt quite right and had me transfered to Darlington, ambulance was there in a flash and the midwife came with me in the ambulance. After giving birth to my son I requested to return to the Midwife Led Unit at BAGH for my aftercare. I returned to the unit the day after my son was born and loved being there. The midwives and health care assistants are fantastic, they have every minute of the day for you. Very supportive as I was struggling with breastfeeding and took so much time to sit with me and help. I have read previous bad comments about the Midwife Led Unit in the press as there are no Dr's on the unit, this never worried me as all the midwives there are so highly trained, as recognised through my Midwife recognising so early something was wrong (and the need for an emergency c-section in the end!)

Thank you all the staff and midwives at Bishop's MLU and the womens clinic, I hope I can get to use your services again if we decide to have a 2nd child!

What could be improved

Nothing, everything was great.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about the Midwifery Led Unit, I will pass on your comments to the staff in the unit and I am sure they will be delighted to hear that you had such a positive experience.
