I suffered from a extremely severe headache and chest tightness on 15/10/2015. And I was sent to AMU Clinic at Norfolk and Norwich University Foundation Trust Hospital by my GP about 14. 30. Once we got to AMU an ambulance crew left me in the clinic room and left reassuring me saying that a nurse will come to see me. About 20 minutes later a Health Care Assisstant (HCA) called my name and escorted me to a clinic bed which situated in a bay with male patients.
The curtain were opened on the opposit bed and I saw an elderly male patient was a sound asleep and snoring away.
The HCA introduced themselves in a friendly manner, and explained what are the tests they were about to do. Having had a very bad experience no more than 7 months ago in this hospital where a nurse never introduced themselves for two weeks while I was there as a inpatient, I thought this hca was very gentle and professional, and respected their job.
Once the hca completed the tests they informed me that it will take about an hour to get the report of my blood test and while waiting I may have to go for a chest xray and then I will get to see a doctor. The hca was very sympathatic when they helped me to sit on the edge of the bed and escorted me back to the clinic room.
About half an hour later I was seen by a doctor. He took my history explained to me about the tests they were doing and asked to wait for the chest xray. He was extremely kind and professional in his work.
Soon later another HCA took me for my chest xray and instructed me to come back to the clinic once chest xray is done. I made myself back to the clinic room after the chest xray was done by a friendly radiologist.
About an hour later I was seen by the same doctor and, as all my tests were normal they discharged me home. I want to say a big thank you to the doctor who involved in my care and HCA Laura and her colleague at AMU clinic and the radiologist. They were all brilliant and our local hospital can do more staff like you.
"Big Thank you to AMU clinic"
