"Total Hysterecotomy"

About: Yeovil District Hospital

I had a total hysterectomy at the end of June 2015 and unfortunately for me the operation was performed on a Friday. This left me on a general ward at the weekend. The senior nursing staff where rude and inadequate and they gave me medication I am severely allergic to (even though it was written all over my notes). They left me in a situation where I was choking on water, left me in bed when I should have been up and about and caused a situation where I had to be re-catheterised.

This has now had an ongoing effect on my bladder which is still effecting me.

My advise to anyone having to go into this hospital for an operation, is to insist you have your operation during the week and that the nurses caring for you are gyne trained. The nurses I did eventually meet who are gyne trained where excellent.

I have a complaint in with PALS which is still ongoing after all these months.
