"The staff were delightful"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

You probably know that, except for Maternity and Children's wards, there are no patients under 65 in any hospital (going out on a limb here).

I think Swarms of senior citizens mill around the corridors, whoop it up in the cafeterias over tea and biscuits; I heard a few off colour jokes. With muzak and tv they are having a great time.

In crowded clinic waiting areas there is mostly good natured chatting in which the harried staff mostly join, knitting patterns exchanged and photos of grandkids passed round. Junior doctors get 'kum back 'ere, I've not told you about me knee! ' All in all, a great day out.

Yes, I was there for five hours (so what, what else have I got to do? ) I had my treatment carefully explained. The consultant who lasered my eye was utterly distressed that he had to cause me pain and the staff were delightful.

Dear Cordelia

Thank you for your positive and humourous comments regarding your experience in clinic today. I am pleased that everything went well although I ma sorry you were here for so long. I hope your eye is comfortable now.

Best wishes

Fiona
