"Stroke Unit"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

I am writing on behalf of my mother who was brought into the stroke unit as an emergency in the early hours of 1st August,2015. My mother (89years old) could not speak, and was paralysed on her right side. In addition to the A and E consultant, my mother was assisted by a stroke unit coordinator who was extremely able and a credit to her profession. Over the next few months my mother received excellent treatment and rehabilitation culminating in her regaining speech facilities and movement in her right side. She was discharged from hospital and is having further rehabilitation at home. The list of people we would like to thank is too long but I would like to make special thanks to the lady consultant, my mothers doctor and nursing staff. The Physio, Speech therapy and Occupational health staff were excellent.. You are under considerable pressure but the patient always came first and the 'A' grading awarded to the unit is well deserved. Thank you very much.
