Having attended review on Monday 5th October, I was advised that I would require IV Antibiotic treatment.
During the period awaiting a bed to become vacant, the staff provided me with regular updates on progress for a bed and also took the time to arrange food for me.
They made the wait completely stress-free.
Later on in the evening when moved over to the A&E Dept as chest clinic was closing, it become clear that due to the high volume of patients and the fact that it was standing room only in the A&E Dept, I eventually returned home at 20:30 .
The following day I made contact with the chest clinic and was advised that they were arranging for me to come in for initial treatment to be followed up by home visits by the Aspire team.
Today, 13th October, I received equally fantastic treatment from from Aspire.
They painstakingly tried to insert an IV drip, which is no mean feat, as my veins are like thread.
At no time, did they make me feel uncomfortable. but gave me the same excellent level of treatment as their colleagues on the chest clinic.
I feel very lucky to live in the area covered by Wythenshawe Hospital, but do feel that their great work ethic is not always recognised.
They are working on tight bludgets for long hours and I have never heard one member of the team complain.
Their dedication is exemplary.
I hope that these individuals will receive the feedback I provided and the apprreciation I feel for the care they have given me.
