"Big thank you to HRI staff"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

I was referred to the Orthopaedic department by my GP during an appt with her, as she was concerned that I had an infection in my hip which potentially could have been life threatening. They found time for me within an hour of my GP appt. It all happened very quickly - I was seen by Ortho docs in the treatment room after having bloods and urine taken and then, despite my reluctance to be admitted, a bed was found for me on Ward 20 in the hospital.

I ended up staying in for 2 nights where they monitored me, further bloods were taken and I had an MRI scan which picked something up but not the condition that was the concern. I'm out now with a follow up appt very soon with the consultant.

I just want to say that although people (including myself) knock the NHS, I received absolutely amazing treatment. All the staff I came into contact with - from the lovely Housekeeper on Ward 20, the cleaning staff, the catering staff, the porters, the ladies that took blood samples, the MRI team, Docs and all nursing staff, I honestly couldn't fault anything. They are all decent, hard-working people trying to do their jobs to the best of their ability, just like the rest of us.

Not enough to make me want to stay any longer mind you, I wanted to be home, but enough for me not to quake at the thought of going back in at any time in the future...and obviously I hope I don't have to!
