About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

a sign on the wall in A&E says when they are busy you will have a short wait. I had to leave after two and a half hours with a approx. twenty people still in front of me. There is a wall of glass in the waiting area and when the sun is out it is like sitting in an oven. I felt sick and dizzy. The old A&E was much better than this. Hope I don't have to go back. I will try the walk in centre at Blaydon tomorrow. I think blinds should be fitted to the large windows, very bad design fault. Lots of staff walking about with a sheet of paper trying to look busy.

Sorry to hear that your experience at our emergency care centre did not meet your expectations. Patient feedback is extremely important to us so thank you for taking the time to pass your comments over. Unfortunately waiting times can vary during busy times although we're committed to meeting the national target times for A&E. The new Emergency Care Centre brings a brand new design to urgent care in Gateshead so we will pass on your comments about temperature and brightness to the team at A&E so they can be looked at more closely. We hope that you are feeling better soon.
