"Not same rules for everyone, some staff excellent"

About: New Cross Hospital

Having had 4 children here i have been here alot and during this time had mixed quality of care.

When i had my first child despite being under pressure staff were helpful and attentive labour went quite smooth, when transfered to ward helped to get comfortable with baby and with breastfeeding.

With 2nd child was under consultant labour was induced due to risks and staff were helpful and caring and quick labour aftercare ok.

3rd child unit was quite busy so gave birth in triage with 1 midwife who was great as they were understaffed and the midwife was supportive and kept situation under control despite baby getting distressed. Aftercare not so great suffered problems and was passed pilar to post despite my excellent community midwifes help. Eventually after back and forth ultrasound performed medication prescribed good different department consultant said would need this medication during any future pregnancy due to risks.

4th child under consultant care told no need for medication despite my concerns, problem arose during pregnancy despite family history and personal history correct checks not performed until next day, no medication despite different department consultants previous advice.problem reoccured. Went in day before birth due to slowing of movements and pain also bleeding.quality of care lacked and midwife filled in my notes incorrect also said had palpated stomach when had not. Said if want to see dr would gave to wait unknown amount of time.next day when arrived at unit nearly gave birth waiting for porter to bring notes and accompany to upstairs despite explaining to reception staff, got upstairs was in obvious pain and could not move further gave birth in assesment room great midwife confusion in notes as previous day it had been put that was my first child?? Afterwards on ward one nember of staff v condecending and

Unhelpful, my partner was not able to stay as visiting time just finished which would be understandable if another ladys partner wasnt there in ward until nearly 2am which 1 member of staff laughed off i could not lift my baby etc properly due to drip as had pph was given no help signed us both out as found ward to be a joke one rule for one but not another.computers down so no nhs num and my drs were informed wrong sex.

Overall i think the service here could be alot better if staff listened more to patients concerns, usually as women we know our own bodys and instincts i know i did. Some staff worth their weight in gold whether the others are in wrong job or down to low morale the patients should not recieve lower quality of care in an important time of their lives
