"Broken system"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

I had to attend the urgent care centre on Saturday as my son's post-op scar had opened and had signs of infection. Parking was very difficult to find. Im told the multi storey carpark had been closed so hospital visitors were looking for anywhere to park. We waited two and a half hours . the waiting room was cold and as I only had a £20 note I had no access to hot drinks or snacks from the vending machines. My children were hungry.

I am also disgusted to see that charging for parking is to be introduced at the centre. This will mean the longer you keep us waiting the more money you earn.

The nurse's long ponytail dangling around the consulting couch was unhygenic. The nurse was friendly and interested but their technique in dressing my sons knee was basic compared to the treatment he received from the community nurse on Milton mouse ward (who was brilliant).

Main complaints:

The unreasonable wait

Problem obtaining refreshments (only necessary because of the long wait)

Inadequate parking

Introduction of expensive parking

Very limited availability of gluten free options in the vending machine.

Suggestions;

Reduce the wait

Require nurses hair to be tied back and up

Ask the league of friends to provide simple refreshments on busy days or install a change machine.

Cut the cost of seeking treatment. Expensive vending machines and parking are too expensive for those of us stuck with repeated visits to the hospital.

Reduce the wait!!!

It was so depressing at the centre on Saturday.
