"Total Hip Replacement at Leighton Hospital."

About: Leighton Hospital

On the 22/09/15 i had a total hip replacement. I would like to say a big thank you to all involved, i found the whole process from start to finish truly professional. I was referred by my Doctor to the surgeon, who diagnosed and operated with their wonderful team, my hip replacement. I was really amazed how quickly my pre-op came round, where all my tests were done with hardly no waiting time at all.

l then attended joint school on ward 9, this i found really helpful as to what to expect before and after the operation. I was given excercises by Sam the physio to do before the operation to strengthen my leg, which has really helped in my recovery.

Then it came round to my admittance to hospital at the treatment centre, where again this was smooth and professional with checks and double checks. I was seen again by the surgeon just before my operation, who in my opinion is an excellent surgeon along with their team.

After the operation i came round under the watchful eye of the wonderful recovery team. I was then admitted on to ward 9, well what can i say. All the staff on ward 9 from all the departments,Nurses, Health care, Physios etc, etc, were truly amazing and the care was second to none. I was soon out of bed and up and walking with very little pain, thanks to the nurses and physios.

I found the whole experience at Leighton Hospital very pleasing, and once again would like to say a very big thank you to all involved.

Keep up the good work

Regards John Jankowski.

Thank you very much for your recent comments on NHS Choice. We are so pleased to hear that you were very happy with all of the aspects of your preparation for, and your admission to, hospital. We are continually striving to enhance all aspects of care for all of our patients. All of our patients who undergo total hip and total knee replacements participate in an Enhanced Recovery Programme.

This allows our patients to recover rapidly from their surgery and provides a much better patient experience. It is lovely to hear that you were up and walking with very little pain. Your comments have been shared with all of the departments that you mention. Please accept our very best wishes for your continued recovery. Sue Sarson Matron
