"Thank you for the service today"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I was referred by my GP to attend to see a medic via accident and emergency. I was worried as everything had happened so quickly from blood tests on Thursday a phone call from my GP on Saturday and then the referral today.

When I arrived I was treated with dignity and respect I saw various members of the team from the first person that I saw to the last at discharge I could not have had any better care. The doctor was very thorough and after various tests I was given the results which were really good from blood tests on the Wednesday that showed a very high marker for inflammation today the results were all back to normal and the doctor explained why this could have happened.

I left feeling a lot better than when I arrived but also felt proud of the NHS that gets slated a lot of the time.

Thank you for the service I received today..

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear wookie,

Thank you so much for getting in touch to tell me about your experience over the last few days. It is great to hear that everything moved so quickly for you, and although you say that can cause it's own worry, it is really positive to see that where possible, patients are being seen as quickly as possible.

It is also lovely to hear about the high standard of care you received from every member of staff who you came into contact with. That you were always treated with dignity and respect and that the doctor took the time to explain fully the difference in your test results is exactly what we would expect for all of our patients, and so I will be pleased to pass on your comments to the team to let them know the difference this has made.

We know that we do not always get things as right, and it is important to learn from those times, but it is equally as important to know what it is we are doing right so that we can ensure this good practice is promoted throughout our services.

Thank you for getting in touch,

Lorna

I know that in the press the NHS get a bad name obviously not all the time. I believe that the team will feel good if they know that the way they did their job helped someone.
