My 84-year-old mum was taken to Scarborough Hospital's A & E dept after suffering a fall while on holiday.
She had suffered a broken knee and was admitted for an operation.
She was cared for on Holly Ward and the staff were without exception kind, caring and professional. They were very helpful and accommodating when my husband and I rang from our home in the Midlands for information in the immediate aftermath of the accident and when I got up there on the day of her surgery they continued to be nothing less than wonderful.
All my questions were answered swiftly and courteously and I was always kept fully informed.
They liaised with our local hospital to arrange provision of equipment we needed to care for mum at home on her discharge.
I'd never previously thought about how much pressure is put on hospitals in locations such as Scarborough when elderly holidaymakers suffer falls and illness when away from home. We are incredibly lucky to have an NHS that can provide high quality care wherever we are in the UK.
"Great care for my mum"
