"Hospital stay"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

After informing the A&E department of my symptoms, (chest pains), I was seen in under 10 minutes. The response was excellent, I was wired up and had had an ECG in about 20 minutes of my arrival. Although the department was very busy the staff were all very caring and considerate.

I was moved on to the CCU (Manvers Ward), where I had a stay of one week. The staff here were superb, their quality of care couldn't be faulted. At all times I was treated with kindness, understanding and compassion. Both doctors and nursing staff kept me fully informed of my treatment at all times.

Within 2 days of my discharge I had received a follow up appointment at outpatients and a phone call from the rehabilitation nurse. The follow up care is very thorough.

No-one wishes to be in ill health, but if I should ever have a recurrence of my problem I would not worry about a return to the hospital. After this experience I know my care will be of the best.

I was really pleased to read your post, which I will make sure is shared with my clinical colleagues.

I am sure they will be delighted at the summary you have given of your experience, both in the hospital and to follow-up your care after discharge.

I'm equally pleased that you wouldn't worry about having to come back into hospital - but - and I mean this in the nicest way - let's hope that doesn't have to happen!

All the best for your continued recovery Sarah Turner-Saint head of communications
