"The referral process"

I was already attending day care at another place when it was suggested that The Ayrshire Hospice might suit me. I don't know who it was who put me forward for it, or how it came about but I am very glad it did and I wish I had known about it much sooner than I did.

I didn't know what to expect at an 'assessment' but it was just a general chat and I was allocated a day to attend Solas. I have been very impressed by the volunteer driver service and the quality of the meals. The social side is very good and I enjoy the company of the others. I would really appreciate getting to know who referred me and how I came here.

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell your story. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying attending Solas day services. I will pass on your kind words to our catering team who prepare meals and to the volunteer transport team. It is good that you are enjoying the company of others as we hear from other people that this is a very important aspect of day services.

I note that you are unsure about how you were referred to day services; this is certainly something we can help with. Please speak to a member of the clinical team the next time you attend as we can easily let you have that information.

It also seems as though the assessment process could perhaps have been explained better. We would be keen to hear more about your experience in order to establish how this could be improved in future, as this is an area we are currently reviewing. I would be happy to discuss this with you when you next attend.
