My husband was in the Trent Cardiac Centre, Acute Cardiac Unit for five weeks in May and June 2015.
The care he received from the medical staff was excellent.
The nursing staff were second to none - during the time he was in ACU he was so well looked after. They also looked after me and our family during many difficult times.
It is a testament to the excellent care he was given there that he is still with us and making really good progress. He had angioplasty and an ICD device fitted.
At some point he had a stroke which added to his difficulties.
Nothing was too much for the staff in ACU and I remember them with great affection and much gratitude for all they have done.
When he was stable after the ICD was fitted he was transferred to Berman 1 when a bed was available. Once there I felt the level of care he received was definitely not as good. He was only there for 24 hours before he was sent back to our local hospital.
No patient discharge notes were sent with him, we did not receive any and neither did our GP practice.
This has caused problems with his records and follow up appointments have not been forthcoming - his local cardiac rehab nurse had to phone up to find out what had been the matter with him so that they were able to further his progress.
