Response from North Middlesex Hospital

Thank's for your feedback. Sincere apologies for the delays you experienced.

Patients sometimes experience a delay in going to theatre because if an ambulance brings in a crash victim who requires urgent surgery they have to take priority for surgery.

If patients going to theatre before you are assessed with problems, delays can occur because doctors have to re-examine and ensure patients are fit for surgery.

These issues can cause patients going to surgery being delayed. Patients are encouraged to communicate with ward staff to ensure all questions are answered and feelings of anxiety are reduced by having the correct information.

I am the ward manager for the acute assessment unit, debbie.encisa@nhs.net and will be sharing your comments with the team.
