"Ridiculous Procedures For Bookings"

About: Warrington Hospital

My complaint isn't about any area of Warrington Hospital, but instead about the absolutely ridiculous booking procedure.

So I went to the doctor at my surgery , who referred me for physio for an issue with my shoulder. They told me I'd get a letter with my appointment on it. What actually came through was a letter saying you can now phone us and get your appointment. I called up, and they asked for my patient user name and password, I've never heard of that, so they said "call your Doctor"

I called the doctor, and they said, "yeah, your user name and password is here in a booklet we have for you, you need to collect it"........

So I got the booklet, called the booking line, and was told I need to go online to book an appointment.....

I went online, put in my details, and it gave me a 5 minute slot and a phone number

I phoned the booking line again to find out why it's only 5 mins and there's a phone number, to be told that my appointment is a timeslot where I can ring up and book an actual appointment.

So in summary, I've had to wait 2 weeks for a letter, to then be told I need my password which was at my doctors (surely should've been provided on my original visit), to then finally book my appointment, so I can call to book an appointment!

This is absolutely ridiculous, and someone seriously needs to sort out the absolute joke the NHS has become!

On a side note, I had an operation 12 years ago and the procedure was this; 1) Visit GP 2) Receive letter with appointment date

How the hell has a procedure worsened over a 12 year period, surely it should be improved!

Thanks for your comments. We don't manage the actual booking procedure from initial referral from your GP but we passed on your comments to the Clinical Commissioning Group who look after this process.
