This past summer I spent 2 months in the maternity ward of Luton hospital due to a serious pregnancy complication. Had loads of time to see how the ward was run, get to know the staff, and observe their overall practice with the ladies. I must say, I was very impressed. Every person in the ward, from the staff who cleaned, to the assistants, to the midwives and doctors were so very helpful and did their best to accommodate everyone. They could definitely use more staff, but that was not their fault and they would gladly welcome it! They did the absolute best with what they had, often working overtime just to help out. Of course their will always be areas of improvement, but most importantly I was treated with respect and care. The doctors and midwives worked with me to help make my stay there as 'normal' as possible and I was treated by all as an individual rather then a number. I am now home with a healthy baby girl, and although I would not ever wish to repeat this experience, I am so grateful for the NHS and Luton hospital and have many positive memories despite the circumstances. The staff who performed my emergency c-section in the delivery unity were also great. I would recommend this maternity unit to anyone. Thank you Luton hospital!
