"Sensitive , high quality care in a difficult..."

I was present as a support to a friend in her eighties, visiting her critically ill husband on Freshfield Ward. The duty doctor was extremely caring,patient and sensitive; she took us aside and spent a great deal of time at the end of a no - doubt busy day, to explain the patient's situation to his wife and to ensure that she understood the options available. Early the next day, the same doctor also went to a lot of trouble to contact another family member who lives abroad.

During the same visit, when my elderly friend became agitated, during my absence to fetch the car, a ward assistant was quick to notice ,brought her a cup of tea and chatted to her to ease her anxiety until my return.

We were helped during a sad and difficult situation by the kindness and professionalism of these two staff members . Thank you very much.
