"Spinal - Physiotherapy"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

I attended the spinal unit on 07/09/15 after being sent to A & E by my Doctor I was sent to the hospital after collapsing in the doctor's surgery through sheer pain . After seeing the Spinal Practitioner for about 15 minutes I was told that there was nothing surgically to be done and i would receive a referral to the pain clinic and osteopathy . I have since waited a further 3 weeks to receive the letter of referral that arrived on the 26th of September. ON reading the letter I was shocked to see the statement " poor pain coping strategies " given that this was an appraisal by someone who had spent 15 minutes with me . I find this extremely defamatory . My ability to cope with pain has never been in question I served in one of the toughest regiments of the French Foreign Legion for 5 years I have played rugby at a very high level and suffered many injuries that have not stopped me continuing . I have broken my nose a number of times and continued without treatment , It has been confirmed that 3 discs are bulging but I have continued to work through the pain . I find the comments derogatory and i believe they will have an affect on my future treatment . the message being sent out is of someone who is playacting and that is most certainly not the case . A friend of mine had a similar condition and attended the Derby Royal , He was pleased to say he was treated with respect and dignity it is very unfortunate I cannot say the same .
